I have never confronted this many trees and bushes before, although it took longer than anticipated I hope it is worth the wait, It is inspired by Mowgli, it's also part of #colour_collective 'orange lake light' week. Bright, vivid and something fun!
As an Illustration (BA) Graduate, I have only been out on the freelancing field for just shy of 6 months. However, this time last year I was terrified about getting work, and what happens next! I'm not an expert by any means, but if post-uni endeavour has taught me even a handful of things, which I can pass to anyone looking to becoming a full time illustrator, (Particularly in the Children's book/Educational area) let me share them with you;
As a freelance illustrator I find myself working every day of the week, and when I do get time off, I'm more likely to want to see friends or have a meal with family than sit painting. However, it is my greatest passion, so sometimes I will work well into the night on this kind of illustration. I love building my portfolio, it gives me a chance to bring to life characters and stories of my own invention!
Two more illustrations inspired by the colour collective on Twitter. 'Sap green' lead me to a princess and the frog illustration. 'Brilliant violent' inspired my quirrels in love. Really happy with how they both turned out.
