You may have noticed my website and other social medias have been taken over by a resident ghost this month. Me and my good friend Kim (@Kimillustration) decided it would be so much

fun to get spooky and really embrace Halloween themed artwork this October.

I am getting into the spooky spirit this October with all things cute and quirky! Autumn is such a fantastic time of year, and Halloween is a very fun celebration (which, in my opinion, is not to be taken too seriously!) It's all good fun!...

The rain is falling in droves and that familiar smell of falling leaves is starting to fill the air. When summer ends and school starts again playing outside in the sunshine can feel like a distant memory.

In all the doom and gloom of the rainy weather it's easy to forget all the wonderful things to enjoy during Autumn. I love listening to the rain and getting cosy indoors with the smell of a hearty stew gently wafting from the kitchen.

It's my favourite time of year to cook and bake, I also pre...

So far i've had a very pleasant relaxed Summer. After a supremely busy start to the year a break has been much needed. I'm plugging away at a couple of ongoing projects, but I'm keen to keep my eye out for something new.

As I tie off the projects I've been working on, I have a tugging feeling of post-book-blues. It's like I'm floundering around, slightly at a loss.

In the meantime, I've tasked myself with doing a few portfolio pieces. I still have doubts about my w...

It's a long way home. The bird family flew away for winter, but now they have to find their way home. Trick is, they aren't sure how. Luckily for the birds there is a helpful Raccoon who is travelling the world. He knows each bit, from the top at polar bears' home to the bottom at kangaroo's den. Raccoon tells the birds, "join me, and you'll be home in time for tea!" Raccoon is enjoying himself very much. He loves seeing forests, bobbing on rivers and sailing seas. He loves wandering the deserts...

Hidden in the undergrowth at the bottom of the garden are always treasures to be found. A little baby snail with a magical colourful shell! Curiosity will always be rewarded when you take only memories and leave only footprints.

FUM is a new picture book written by Karl Newson (whose website you can check out here to find out more about him and his books!). It was an absolute joy to illustrate from start to finish. One of my favourite pages is the map page (photo below) mainly because it was a great fun to doodle all the different areas and fairytale worlds at a bird's eye view. (Who doesn't love doodling dragons?!)

Karl's storytelling is fantastic, fun and rhythmical. Fum is packed with lots to talk about with you...

So, here we are, in 2017 - and I've kicked it off with a lot of projects on my plate! It's quite hard to believe that I have been a freelance illustrator since the Autumn of 2014. In that time I've learnt so much, but still have so much I wish to achieve. But, a life without dreams would be a dull one indeed, so despite being ever impatient and trying to do everything all at once, it's important this year to start to enjoy the journey I'm on.

2016 was a year where a lot of wo...

First of all, I want to say a massive thank you, as the response to my latest painting (shown here) has been thoroughly heart-warming. In a year that has had its ups and downs, It's really lovely to feel all this positivity towards a (let's face it) rather unsure of herself artist.

I often struggle with self confidence, in life and in art I search hard to find my place in a hectic world. But, painting can also become an escape from those fears, as each painting, whether good or bad, is a step for...

"What hears with their ear? The abyss between the stars." - Ray Bradbury.

In my previous post, my long summer round up, I mentioned that I was approaching the busiest time of year for work as an illustrator. Despite the long nights, and hours at my desk, this truly is my favourite time of year.

October until New Year, brings me so much joy and comfort. For me, it's the most magical time of year. It surely doesn't make any sense? The weather becomes grim and chilly, the days shorten. Yet it's this...

August 16, 2016

I can smell Autumn in the air, even as i'm clinging to the boiling sunshine of mid August, I can feel my favourite and busiest time of year fast approaching. The run up to the end of October (Frankfurt Book Fair) Then on through until Christmas has previously been incredibly, and exhilaratingly hectic. This year should be no exception. Deadlines are flying at me almost too fast for my mind to comprehend so I'm relishing these rare doodle evenings where I can get my ideas onto paper, and simultan...
